Northumberland Landscape Workshop
6th to 13th December 2024 (Sold Out)
5th to 12th December 2025 (Sold Out)
During this workshop we will be based on the north east coast of England surrounded by some of the country’s most imposing castles, including Bamburgh Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle, Lindisfarne Castle, Alnwick Castle and Warkworth Castle. Most photography will be carried out along Northumberland’s impressive coastline. We will explore Lindisfarne and photograph an extraordinary stone circle by torchlight. We will venture into Newcastle and Gateshead for dusk shots of the riverside and Millenium Bridge. We will also photograph St. Mary’s Lighthouse and The Angel of the North. Weather permitting we'll also head inland to Hadrian’s Wall. Each day we will start before sunrise and finish photographing after sunset so expect to be out and about from about 7am until 5pm. At this time of the year we should have empty beaches and hopefully changeable weather with impressive clouds and dramatic light. Image critique sessions and processing demonstrations will be carried out in the evenings or during any periods of very poor weather.
As with most of my UK-based landscape workshop, we will stay in a large luxury self-catering house. I will volunteer to do the cooking, which will allow us to be as flexible as possible with mealtimes and prioritise our photography.
We will have six and a half days of photography beginning early on Saturday morning and finishing late morning on Friday. Participants will travel in my 4X4 vehicle during the workshop. Wherever practical I will collect people en-route from my base in Dorset at no extra cost.
