Spend the Night in Dorset
Dates - Available
Each workshop will need to take place duing the monthly 'dark sky' period and only when there is a very good chance of a clear night. Therefore a high degree of flexibility will be required and the final date for your workshop will need to be decided at fairly short notice. I will only be offering these workshops during the summer of 2024, when the dark sky periods will occur between 1st and 10th August. When suitable weather conditions look likely I will contact all those on my waiting list in order to make up a group. If you cannot make the first date offered you can simply wait until the next clear night in that dark sky period. No payment is required until a workshop date has been confirmed.
Timings will vary slightly depending upon day length, but during the workshop will normally begin at about 7pm with a late evening and sunset landscape photography session along Dorset's Jurassic Coast. After some 'blue hour' photography we will then head to at least three locations for wide-field astro-landscape photography during the night. After some more 'blue hour' photography we will finish the workshop with a sunrise (possibly misty!) somewhere in Dorset. The workshop will end at about 7am, so you will receive around 12 hours with me in the field.
I will be able to show you how I control exposure in my high contrast sunrise/sunset images, how I achieve front to back sharpness in my landscape photographs and various techniques that I use for wide-field astro-landscape photography, including the use of a sky-tracker. We can also discuss alternative methods of night sky photography and how to process the resulting images.
The experience of spending the night under the clear Dorset skies is not to be missed!
